I feel very grateful for having met Ralph Stacey, his work and his partners in crime. Provoking, but always with a twinkle in his eye, Ralph guided us through a memorable masterclass in Copenhagen back in 2010. Through Ralphs thoughts and person, I got acquainted with the work of Patricia Shaw, and from there on to Hannah Arendt. While corresponding and discussing one of his chapters in the new edition of “Strategic Management…” I for some reason mentioned that I had my third child. Ralphs response fell promptly, saying that being a father to a newborn is far more important and relevant than change management literature. Now Ralph is no longer with us, but his impact on my own practice as manager, worker, father and human being will stay with me forever.
