I first got to know Ralph as a colleague at the University of Hertfordshire over 30 years ago. He was the nicest man and a brilliant academic. He invited me to contribute a chapter to his book on 'Strategic Thinking and the Management of Change'. His intellect and formidable standards were evident in the thoughtful guidance he provided as editor. His contribution has been immense producing ground breaking, highly influential work. I am so very sorry to hear of his death. He will be missed by many. Geraldine
