Occasionally my life has been changed by a book and reading the 4th edition of Strategic Management and Organisational Dynamics was a revelation. I was a failing manager and consultant. Nothing worked. Was I so useless? I used Stacey's ideas in my business and in others very effectively, improving the quality of conversation and encouraging localised self-management. Happier people, better businesses. 
Often in the face of derision by 'proper' managers.
We desperately need people like Ralph. People who are not satisfied to follow the lemmings, and stand back and ask 'What is going on here? Surely there is a better way. Let's find one.' Despite the outraged opposition from the orthodox and their followers.
We do need to maintain Ralph's ideas for practical management support for more human and humane business management.
