Thoughts

I had the pleasure of listening to Professor Stacey - his presentation, thoughts, ethos and approach remain with me. I regularly return to his works - which today has led me to find of the most recent news. Thank you for the inspiration.

The difference Ralph made was immense - both on the personal side and, where I knew him more, on the professional side. We are all the richer for having had him in our lives. He will be missed. Sara

I am frequently sending thoughts to Ralph. He lives on in my thinking. These days it's been mostly memories from quite ordinary conversations, during lunches at Roffey's. Or in the bar. In one of our conversations, we explore the link between being seen as a guru and a loss of freedom to think. This exploration goes on over lunch and Ralph is sitting on my left hand side. I keep coming back to this. Ralph has been part of my thinking since the early 2000s where I met him at a conference in Norway. I did my viva in 2019. I was intimidated by Ralph many times, and also angry with him. And he willingly explored this with me. In some ways I had the opportunity to have the kinds of conversations with him that I never had with my father. I will stay in conversation with Ralph, through his books - and through these episodes that suddenly show up in my mind, from Roffey Park. Looking forward to continuing our conversations, Ralph. With love and gratitude, Majken.
